Booking and Payment

How do I book direct with you?
Head to our Enquiries page and send us your dates and which cottage (or cottages) you're interested in — we'll come back to you with availability and a quote. Booking direct means no third-party fees, and you're dealing with us, not an agency.

What's your cancellation policy?
If you book 8 weeks or more before your stay, a 20% deposit secures your booking; if you book within 8 weeks of arrival, full payment is due at the time of booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before arrival. If you need to cancel, the charge depends on how much notice you give us in writing: 56 days or more before your stay, you lose your deposit only; 29–55 days, 66% of the rental cost; 0–28 days, the full rental cost. Full booking conditions are sent with your booking confirmation.

Do you take a damage deposit?
We don't take a separate damage deposit, but you're responsible for the cost of any loss or damage caused during your stay, beyond normal wear and tear.

Arrival and Departure

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 3pm, and check-out is by 10am.

How do we get the keys?
We'll send you all the details on collecting your keys directly, ahead of your stay.

The Cottages

How many people does each cottage sleep?

• Babes Cottage: One double bedroom plus a sofa-bed comfortably sleeps 3-adults or 2-adults and two smaller children.
• Hollies Cottage: One double bedroom plus a sofa-bed comfortably sleeps 3-adults or 2-adults and two smaller children.
• The Lookout: One double bedroom, sleeps 2 (minimum age 12).
• Meadow's Edge: One double bedroom, sleeps 2 (minimum age 12).

 Are bed linen and towels provided?
Yes — bed linen, towels, hairdryer and iron are all included in every cottage.

Is there WiFi?
Yes, free WiFi in every cottage is powered by a full fibre connection to the property. 

Is there EV charging?
Yes, there is 7kW EV charging point (Type 2 tethered) for all guests to use. Please let us know if you plan to charge your vehicle.

Is there parking?
Yes, each cottage has its own dedicated parking space.

What else is provided?

Our aim is to ensure that our guests have everything needed for a pleasant and relaxing stay. You'll find a well equipped kitchen with all the utensils needed We provide consumables like foil, clingfilm, salt, pepper, oil, tea, coffee, sugar, kitchen and loo roll, and more. Outside each cottage, there is a storage box with beach gear like windbreaks, chairs, buckets/spades, bodyboards, and wood for the firepit and chimeneas. Please contact us either before you book or during your stay to let us know if there is anything we can do to make your stay more enjoyable.

Is smoking allowed?
No smoking or vaping inside the cottages or on the balconies, please. There is plenty of space in the grounds to smoke or vape without it affecting other guests.

Pets

Are dogs welcome?
Yes, with prior approval, Babes Cottage and Hollies Cottage welcome one small well-behaved dog - just let us know when you book! Dogs need to be kept under control, off the furniture, never left unsupervised in the cottage, and we ask owners to clean up after their pets. The Lookout and Meadow's Edge are apartment-style properties and unfortunately can't accommodate pets.

What outdoor space is there?
All four cottages share a two-acre recreation field with a permanent gazebo and a gas BBQ (gas supplied), wood-burning chimeneas (wood supplied), and a fire-pit. There's a range of outdoor games including badminton, boules, swingball, football, cricket, kites, bodyboards, and more.

Is there somewhere to store bikes, surfboards, boats?
Yes, there's a large barn in the yard behind the cottages. Just let us know what you need to store and we'll be happy to help you.

Local Area

Is there a shop or supermarket nearby?
Goonhavern village is a pleasant 20-minute walk on quiet byways, with a shop (Londis), garden centre, cafes and a good pub. For a bigger supermarket shop, you'll find Sainsbury's, Aldi, Morrisons and Lidl in Newquay, or Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Aldi in Truro. Tesco and Lidl are in Redruth, and if you're travelling from up-country, there's an M&S Food just off the A30 at Fraddon, a few junctions before the Caerkief turn-off.

Where can go for good food, walks, beaches, and experiences?
A comprehensive information pack in each cottage contains maps, walks and a list of our favourite local eateries and attractions. We love meeting our guests and will be delighted to share our most recent discoveries and learn about yours while you are here.

Where can we explore with Caerkief Cottages as our base ?
The village of Goonhavern, with its shops, garden centre, cafes, and excellent pub, is a very pleasant 20 minute walk on quiet byways, or a 5-minute drive.  Only 2½ miles away (50-minutes walk, or 15-minute cycle along The Saints Trail, or 10-minutes by car) is the seaside town of Perranporth with its amenities, large surfing beach and golf course. The surfing beaches and golf course at Newquay is 7 miles away. Truro with its pleasant shopping centre is 9 miles and the Eden Project, 20 miles. It's about a 40-minute drive to St. Ives, Padstow, Falmouth, and Mevagissey. Caerkief Cottages are in the perfect location to explore Cornwall.
